Update for the Week of 4/12
As you know, there is a change in practice this week (6:30-8:00 pm) as well as Amador being back on the calendar.
April 14th: JV @ 6:00 pm; Var @7:30 pm. We will need scorekeepers and scoreboard for the JV game.
Senior Night April 23rd: Literally, this is right around the corner. We do a great job recognizing our senior student-athletes and NEED help from the underclassman parents. Please email me or text me.
Team Donations: If you wish to consider a voluntary donation to the team, please use the MV future fund link. Give it a day or two to get activated.
Week of 4/4
April 14th Amador game is back! (woot woot)
JV @ 6:00 pm MV turf
Varsity @ 7:30 pm MV turf
Week of 3/29
Schedule change for JV this week as of March 30th:
Wed 3/31 practice 3:30 pm in Coach Trisko's class (rm 302). Bring all your practice gear and running shoes. Bags can be left in her class.
Thursday 4/1: practice right after pictures @ Oak Hill Park grass. Need all your gear & running shoes.
Schedule addition/change for Varsity this week:
3/31: Berkeley (varsity) @ 7:00 MV Turf
Team Pictures are scheduled on Thursday April 1st @ 3:30 pm in Oak Hill Park. Varsity will go first due to their game time. The pre-pay link is here. Make life easy and pre-pay if you would like photos.
Game Jobs: EVERY FAMILY must volunteer as this is the only way that a team can successfully function. Head Coaches should not be wondering who will step up at the last minute.
Game time jobs include: scorekeeper (the book) and scoreboard. There are trained parents who are willing to teach you. Other non-game jobs include: Senior Night, Pasta Feeds and end of the year festivities (assuming allowable under CDPH guidance). If you have a passion for fundraising, we could use you as the team would like to raise additional funds for a "proper" storage shed. Anything sound interesting? Send me an email and I will get you all squared away.
The Sign-up for scorekeeper is here
Week of 3/22
The game on Tuesday 3/23 vs Amador has been cancelled.

Stay tuned for more information regarding parent jobs.
Tryouts: March 1st MV Turf Field 7:30-9:00 pm
MVHS Crab Feed is on March 27th. While it will not be in the fun format we have been accustomed to, the crab feed is for a great cause: MV Athletics! Crab Feed Flyer

ATHLETIC UPDATE FROM SRVUSD: Dear Monte Vista Community,
We are happy to announce that today SRVUSD received guidance from the North Coast Section Office regarding the reopening of high school athletics. This means by Monday, some of Monte Vista’s student-athletes will be back in action.
Although we are thrilled to share this news with you, there is some important information you will need to know before things get started. In order for us to keep these sports open, we absolutely must work together to follow all the guidance provided to our league. Every person, including our students, staff, parents/guardians and families, must abide by these requirements.
Under the East Bay Athletic League’s (EBAL) guidance, all SRVUSD sports will reopen their seasons of sport based on Contra Costa County’s current color tier. All sports must also comply with guidance from the CA Dept of Public Health and local county departments of health. In addition, CIF has established COVID-19 accommodations for each sport. These sport-specific guidelines can be found here.
Overview of Sports Allowed in Each Tier:
Purple: Cross-Country, Golf, Tennis, Track & Field, Swimming and Diving
Red: Baseball, Softball, Women’s Lacrosse
Orange: Football, Mens’ Lacrosse, Soccer, Volleyball, Water Polo, Badminton
Yellow: Competitive Sport Cheer, Basketball, Wrestling
Important information from EBAL that pertains to every sport:
EBAL schools agree to not participate in NCS or CIF post season play
EBAL may opt to adjust seasons of sport based on unforeseen circumstances
SRVUSD Upcoming Sports Reopening Dates:
February 1, 2021 - Cross Country, Swimming, and Diving
February 8, 2021 - Golf and Tennis
March 22, 2021 - Track and Field
No Spectators For Sports
There will be no spectators allowed at any of our games/matches or practices. An exception will be made for officially designated volunteers, such as timekeepers, only. Please reach out to your student’s coach for more information.
We understand how tough it is not to be able to cheer on your athlete in person. However, it is critical together to follow all rules placed upon our leagues to ensure that sports that are allowed to open, remain open.
Transportation and Form Requirement for Students
No buses will be provided for transporting students to and from games.
Prior to starting their first practice, all students are required to submit the Alternative Form of Transportation form signed by a parent/guardian.
If you have any questions, please contact Monte Vista Athletic Director, Andy Popper. Current coach contact information is available at the mvhigh.net website.
We look forward to welcoming back our student-athletes.

Team Information 2020
Information from the National Federation of HS Sports regarding return to play guidance during COVID-19.
NFHS Covid-19 Guidance
Well, this is certainly not how anyone would have predicted the season to end. While it is certainly less than ideal, there are some bright spots:
Team Pictures were shipped to my house. I do not have everyone's address, which makes it hard to deliver both JV and Varsity team pictures. Please text me: 925-997-6413 as I can leave them on my front porch.
Shutterfly has all the pictures from the games loaded onto the share site. Thank you Barb for uploading them. To access the pictures, go to the Shutterfly Share site app on your phone.
Seniors: this is so not how we want to celebrate your hard work in lacrosse. We love you tons. Look for a surprise coming in the next week or two.
Uniforms: Please drop off your uniform in the baggie that was provided (or something similar) when you pick up your pictures. The uniforms are brand new; we cannot afford to lose any uniforms.
Update Friday 3/13: As you have all seen already from the email from Coach Jess, under the direction of the EBAL officials, the lacrosse season is on hold until further notice. Click here for the complete letter. Be optimistic that the season will continue. Watch out for your elderly neighbors, maybe go to the grocery store for them, and, of course, wash your hands. AND this is just in: the official SRVUSD is closed until April 13th.
As of Wednesday 3/11:
The home game vs Dublin HS is on! I am sure you read the email from the SRVUSD: No spectators. If you are working the game: stats, scorer and scoreboard-- you are welcome to be there: Salles, Mark, Howe, and King (scoreboard). If you can not be there, let me know asap. The Salles family worked Granite Bay (thank you!) so if someone who is slotted to work Saturday wants to step in, let me know. The "No Spectators" is in effect, as of today, until March 21st and includes carpool drivers. Carpool drivers unite~ we can find something fun to do while the girls play.
Here is the information from the school district in case you missed it.
Saturday 3/14 @ Marin Catholic is postponed. Marin Catholic school is closed until 3/25.

Generally, games for JV are at 5:30pm and varsity are at 7pm (although there are some exceptions). The game schedule for the season is posted on Max Preps.
If soccer goes to the NCS championship game, they are potentially in season until the end of February, so our practice times for most of February are at unusual times and locations. Once soccer ends, all practice times will be back to normal. Please ask your athlete to confirm practice locations with the team for Week 3.
The schedule for late January & February is listed below.
Tryouts are just around the corner and here are the dates:
Jan 28: 5-7 Sycamore 2
Jan 29: 5-6:50 Sycamore
Jan 30: 5-6:50 Sycamore
Jan 31: 3:30-5:30 Diablo Vista Middle School Turf (practice)
Feb 1: 5-7 Sycamore 3 (practice)

Please make sure you have submitted your Athletic Clearance Forms to the Athletic Office before tryouts.
Tryouts are less than one week away! As a reminder, the first day of tryouts are Tuesday February 7th at Sycamore Valley Soccer Field 3 from 5-7pm. See below for a full schedule for the first month of tryouts and practice.
Plan to arrive around ten minutes early to tryouts to check-in and get your reversible pinny. Don't forget to bring your stick, mouth guard, eye guard, cleats, tennis shoes, and water.
Tryouts will happen rain or shine. The only case that we will cancel is if there is lightning. Otherwise, we will still hold tryouts. We will post any cancellations to this website.
We can't wait for season! GO MUSTANGS!
Tryouts are right around the corner. We are looking forward to seeing everybody out on the field!! In order to tryout, your sports paperwork must be completed and turned into Melissa French in the office by 1/20/2017. Melissa will give the coaches a list of all players cleared to tryout.
Each athlete is given at least three days to tryout. Winter athletes are given three days once their winter sport is over. If you are a winter sport athlete trying out for women’s lacrosse, please e-mail Coach Megan (firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 20th and indicate your name, winter sport, and date that your winter sport ends. Plan to attend tryouts as soon as your winter sport is completed.
Every athlete trying out for women’s lacrosse will be evaluated based on the criteria listed below:
We also expect each athlete to have a high commitment level to the team.
During season, practices will be at the MV turf 5:30-7:30pm M-F except on game days. Generally, games for JV are at 5:30pm and varsity are at 7pm. The game schedule for the season is posted on Max Preps.
Soccer is potentially in season if they win in NCS until 2/25/2017 (overlapping with our season by a few weeks), so our practice times for most of February are at unusual times and locations. Once we are into March, all practice times will be back to normal.
The schedule for February is listed below. Again, starting in March we will be back to our normal practice times and locations.
